Biography of the director
JURA CAPELA Director, Screenwriter, and Producer Born in Recife. He was part of artistic groups in Pernambuco such as Canal 03 (photography and video) and the collective TelephoneColorido, with which he co-directed the short film Cultural Rescue - The Film (2001), awarded at various national film festivals. He also held exhibitions such as Estéreo, Joaquim Nabuco Foundation (FUNDAJ - Recife, 2000), and Quebrem um Ovo, 45th Pernambuco Plastic Arts Salon (Recife, 2003). He participated in the 47th Pernambuco Plastic Arts Salon with the installation "Where the Sea Breaks" (Recife 2011). He collaborated in the cinematography direction and production of many filmmakers of his generation. He is the creator of the Sapo Cururu film festival, which took place between 2005 and 2012 in Olinda and Recife.
In his filmography, he directed the experimental short film Copo de Leite (2004), co-directed the medium-length documentary Shenberguianas (2005), and directed three feature films Paranã-Puca - Where the Sea Breaks, 2010 (Redentor trophy for best film "Rio de Janeiro Festival - New Paths," 2010), the musical film Jardim Atlântico, 2012, exhibited at the 36th São Paulo International Film Festival and distributed in several capitals of Brazil by Jura filmes, and the feature film "A Serpente" (2016), based on the work of writer Nelson Rodrigues, exhibited at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival (2016) and awarded at the XX Luso-Brazilian Film Festival of Santa Maria da Feira - Portugal (2016). He wrote the book "How Not to Make a Film" with a print run of 1000 copies. In 2022, he made the feature-length documentary titled Mangue Bit, about the Brazilian music scene of the 90s. The film participated in various festivals inside and outside the country, winning several awards.

JURA CAPELA Diretor, Roteirista e Produtor
Nasceu em Recife. Integrou grupos artístico em Pernambuco tais como Canal 03 (fotografia e vídeo) e o coletivo TelephoneColorido com o qual Co-dirigiu o curta-metragem Resgate Cultural – O Filme (2001), premiado em diversos festivais nacionais de cinema. Também neste contexto realizou as exposições Estéreo, Fundação Joaquim Nabuco (FUNDAJ – Recife, 2000), e Quebrem um Ovo, 45º Salão de Artes Plásticas de Pernambuco (Recife, 2003). Participou no 47º Salão de Artes Plásticas de Pernambuco com a instalação “Onde o mar se arrebenta” (Recife 2011). Colaborou na direção de fotografia e produção de muitos cineastas de sua geração. É o idealizador do festival de cinema Sapo Cururu, que ocorreu entre 2005 e 2012 em Olinda e Recife.
Na sua filmografia soma a direção do curta experimental Copo de Leite ( 2004), Co-direção da média-metragem documentário Shenberguianas (2005), e a direção de Três longas-metragens Paranã-Puca – Onde o Mar se Arrebenta, 2010 (troféu Redentor de melhor filme “Festival do Rio de Janeiro - Novos Rumos”, 2010), o filme-musical Jardim Atlântico, 2012, exibido na 36 Mostra Internacional de Cinema de São Paulo e distribuído por diversas capitais do Brasil pela Jura filmes e o Longa-metragem “A Serpente” (2016), baseada na obra do escritor Nelson Rodrigues exibido no festival internacional de cinema do Rio de Janeiro (2016) e premiado no XX Festival de cinema Luso-brasileiro de Santa Maria da Feira – Portugal (2016). Escreveu o livro “Como não fazer um filme” com tiragem de 1000 exemplares. Realizou em 2022 o Documentário longa-metragem intitulado Mangue Bit, sobre a cena musical Brasileira dos anos 90. O filme participou de diversos festivais dentro e fora do pais, arrecadando diversos prêmios.
